Video Production

CREATE A VIDEO FROM A TO Z

Learn how to make a short commercial film using basics in video production going through all phases of production, from the idea to the final videoLearn about film theory and use in marketing using film standards in writing screenshots, concepts, storyboards, plans and organization for filming.

Phase I or Preproduction – learning about film theory and use in marketing using film standards in writing screenshots, concepts, storyboards, plans and organization for filming. During the course the students will make a promotional film or a commercial about Advent in Zagreb.

Phase II or Production – filming Advent in Zagreb according to plan and schedule from Phase I. Students will learn the basics of using camcorders, lighting, microphones and similar equipment. They will learn about differences in quality between professional and amateur camcorders and mobile phones. Since light is very important in video production, the students will learn how to set proper lighting for TV, studio or social media like Facebook or Instagram. Using movement camera, for instance time-lapse footage is also very popular in production today, so the students will film some footage using the aforesaid technique. Since microphones are a usual part of video equipment, the students will learn how to use them properly while conducting interviews and recording audio.

Phase III or Postproduction – learning basics of editing, color grading, audio mixing, graphic editing and exporting footage to different media. Student will learn about basic editing and graphics tools in Adobe Premiere CC, how to use color correction tools in DaVinci Resolve, basic audio tools in Adobe Audition. Each student will make his/her own version of film/commercial using the footage we film during Phase II. Each student will make his/her own version of film/commercial using the footage we film during Advent in Zagreb. The students will be able to visit Concerts, Fairs, Ice Parks, Fooling Around… more than 10 Advent corners and loads of quirky events.

During the Advent season, Zagreb offers a variety of events that will satisfy even the most demanding visitors. Plenty of fun, excellent food, unique events, art, but also a genuine Christmas atmosphere, await you on the streets of Croatia’s capital.

Robert Krivec was born in Zagreb in 1978., where he graduated from Academy of Dramatic Arts in 2004. He started his professional career in 1999 as a cameraman for Croatian Radiotelevision. Since then he has been working as a cameraman, editor and director of photography for various Croatian TV houses and production companies.

He moved to London in 2007, where he worked as a cameraman and editor for various TV companies (Sky News, Sky Sport, ITN, SIC, Reuters). He was also a lecturer on Television and Studio Lighting, Documentary Film and Photography courses and workshops at London Academy.

In 2009 he had his first solo photo exhibition “Modest Beauty” at the Croatian Embassy in London. In 2012 and 2015 he had his second and third solo photo exhibitions, called “Colors of Thailand” and “Rust”.

Robert still works as a cameraman and director of photography, runs film workshops, and works as a lecturer at Algebra University College.

The students will be awarded 4 ECTS/2 US credits for successful completion of the course

The tuition fee for the course: 1000 EUR

Travel expenses and accommodation are NOT INCLUDED in the tuition fee. The price for accommodation during a two week Winter School course is approximately 200 EUR if the students stay at a hostel.

Cyber Security

THE F0RC3 IS STRONG WITH THIS ONE

Get to know the “dark side“ of security and how to use “the force“ the right way. In this course, the students will learn how to use their computer without exposing it to most of the threats lurking outside, whether this is simple Internet browsing, “innocent“ usage of publicly available Wi-Fi, or usage of “secure“ corporate network.

Cyber security is an ever-evolving field with opportunities waiting for everyone with the interest to learn more and develop their skills in this interesting and demanding topic. This course will show the basic steps most of the hackers would go through while compromising the victim’s computers and it will define some interesting known and less known attack vectors and protections against them.

Students will not only have a chance to compromise many vulnerable machines by using different attack vectors, they will also gain knowledge that will help them protect their computers and networks against the attacks covered in this course. The course will also cover some of the latest attacks and methods used in the wild.

The prerequisite for this course is the understanding of the basics of operating systems, network and web applications. Nevertheless, the important concepts will be delivered during the class as a refresher. Everyone brave enough to step into this class will be rewarded with knowledge that is heavily sought after not only in military/government sector, but also in any security aware corporation/company.

The students will be able to visit Ladies’ and Men’s Slalom, Snow Queen Trophy (3.-4.1.2018) Snow Queen Trophy races are special in many respects: Zagreb is the only capital city hosting World Cup races; only at the Sljeme races are the winners of the men’s and ladies’ races crowned Snow King and Queen; and the atmosphere surrounding the races is praised by not only the world’s best slalom skiers but also all the visitors.

Robert Petrunić was born in 1973. in Nagold, Germany and has a Master’s degree in Computer Engineering. He works as senior security consultant in Eduron IS, the company dedicated to IT security education, penetration testing and computer forensics. He also works as lecturer in most successful Croatian private college Algebra – University College, where he has designed several courses related to computer security and forensics.

Robert is Microsoft certified trainer since 2002, EC-Council certified trainer from 2008 and VMware certified trainer from 2012. He works mainly in security field from 2004, and Microsoft acknowledge this at 2008 awarding him Microsoft most valuable professional recognition ever since.

For the last 10 years Robert has been working on programs related to ethical hacking and IT security awareness for system administrators, developers and IT security consultant. He is also often a lecturer at regional IT conferences.

The students will be awarded 6 ECTS/3 US credits for successful completion of the course

HOW TO APPLY?

The Winter School application process is carried out online. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, once you submit your application the admissions team will contact you to schedule an online interview.

Applications must be submitted before:

  • November 17 2017 for the course in Video Production,
  • December 15 for the Cyber Security course.

The number of participants is limited, so make sure to apply on time.
